Engrave Mode and Flows

I am totally confused by how engrave mode works with its stuff. For example:

  1. Open a new project based on a supplied template (piano and voice)
  2. Go to engrave mode, and double-click “Untitled Project 1” (shows {@projecttitle@})
  3. Double-click {@projecttitle@} to select, then right-click and select Flow Info>Title (inserts {@flowtitle@} which we know is “Flow 1” because it is displayed below).
  4. Click away and it disappears! WTF?!?
  5. Double-click in blank space and the {@flowtitle@} is still there. Change it via right-click back to {@projecttitle@} and there it is again.

I have no idea of what is going on here. How do I get that frame to show flow title? All the instructional vids are for older versions and they don’t cover this stuff. Anyone help?

TIA … mark.

It’s a token, will display whatever you have in the Project Info dialog: File > Project Info.

If you haven’t filled out the Flow Title in there then it will display nothing.

Does this answer your question?

Get that. By default the template includes the Flow 1 title of “Flow 1” In fact if you go into engrave mode that exact token (plus its display value) is shown in another text box. However, when I enter it (the flow title token) into top text box (by default the Project Title) it doesn’t display anything (even though the token exists)

Do you have Flow Headings turned on in Layout Options?

Yup. They say a picture is worth 10 words or so. Here is a screenshot of the engrave page. There is “1. Flow 1” in the text field? I want that “Flow 1” up where “Untitled Project 1” is. If I change the tokens, it doesn’t work. And this is all out-of-the-box no mods Dorico, everything default

I don’t know what I’m missing here…

You have Flow Headings showing. (The 1. Flow 1 that you see is the Flow Heading):

Turn them off and you will be in luck.

Thank you! I was clearly not getting that and now it works as I expect. Hooray!
