Ok, I am a newbee so sorry for the simple question. In Engrave mode I am getting music parts with two pages. But the second page only has one line of music. How do I condense the page so that all the music fits on one page?
Check out this video for some tips:
The question is: does your music fit in one page? If yes then make one frame only. If not, change the rastral size…
OH, I see Lillie was more general!
…and Ben is coming…!
These are your options:
-
Note Spacing
Reduce the Note Spacing value in Layout Options > Note Spacing from the default of 4 to a slightly smaller value. (Fractional values between 3 and 4.) This will make the spacing slightly tighter, possibly putting more bars onto fewer systems. -
System spacing
In Layout Options > Vertical Spacing > Ideal Gaps, reduce the Inter-system gap. This may help you get one more system on each page. -
Staff Size
Make sure that your music is a suitable staff size. The default of Size 3 might be too big (or too small!) depending on your use. Again, this is in Layout Options > Page Setup.
Other things include turning off Abbreviated Staff Labels on every system, if they’re not necessary (e.g. not for a piano piece, choral score – but only for a orchestral score where it’s easy to lose track).
That little extra space may add up!
Thank you Lillie_Harris. That was easy - well once one knew the inside info!
New command Ctrl-Shift-L, very useful to know!
