Engraving Options

Hi Everyone,

I have this question that maybe it have been already answered before, sorry if that is the case.

Is there any combination in Engraving Options in order to achieve the results in the second image, 3rd bar?

Thank you so much for your time.

Yes, I get that by default. It will be some combination of Notation Options / Note Grouping although I honestly can’t remember what settings get to that result. I’ll post a couple of screenshots of my settings.

Thank you so much Janus, that did it. I just changed that option and it does exactly what I was looking for.

I really appreciate it.

It is possible as well to use forced duration if this is only a one-off.

Thank you, Gheliquist,

That is how I wrote the first example, using forced duration But I was looking for the configuration…, not having to do that every time a rhythm like that appears in a score.

I really appreciate your help, this forum is a diamond for Dorico’s users.

All the best

This is a key part of thinking in Dorico.

Perhaps, a future option would be to enter user defined rhythm(s) and allow properties to be formatted as needed.

I was referring to the general approach of thinking globally first and working in from there. This applies throughout the app, such as with formatting in Engrave mode.

In this particular case, the note grouping options cover a wide range of scenarios, some are independent of each other and others can overlap. I don’t think you could set all, or perhaps even just the relevant ones for a project from a single bit of rhythm. I think if the user got to the point of understanding all the examples they needed to define, they’d probably have reached an understanding of the options so that the examples wouldn’t be necessary. Perhaps I’ve misunderstood your suggestion.
