Is there a way to have a time signature appear as shown below (as from Music Notation, A Manual of Modern Practice, by Garder Read, page 438, example 26-5, penultimate example)?
Textual description: For each instrumental group, place an enlarged time signature on the staff, to the right of the top and bottom instruments, and connect them by a vertical line. The time signature should be vertically centered on the instrument over which it appears. Notes and other musical elements are justified to avoid collisions.
Opinion: it would be ideal to support each option shown in the Gardner Read book as they represent common contemporary usage.
The example below shows an application of the placement.
