Enlarging music, chords, notes, etc

Hello again. Thank you for helping me slowly navigate Dorico 6.2.10. Without your help I don’t think I could reach this stage so quickly. I finally printed out my first lead sheet, and while I am pleased overall with the results, there’s one area that I need to address. I am 80 y.o. and my eyesight is not as good as it used to be, and when I compared my Dorico printout compared to my FINALE printout, the notes and chords were smaller and harder for me to read. Can you suugest a way for me enlarge both without making the music look goofy? Many thanks once again!

Try increasing the rastral size in Layout options. Most of the text items (I’m away from the computer right now, can’t remember if chord symbols are the same) are what’s known as staff relative sizes, which means if your increase or decrease your staff (rastral) size, the text scales proportionately. If the chords don’t scale when you do that, have a look at Fonts chord symbol and chord symbol text font sizes.

Thank you Toaster1974! I’ll try your suggestions. Wish me good luck!

Are you using the same paper size as you did in Finale? I believe Dorico’s default is A4, which if you’re in the US or Canada will require a slight shrinking of the page to make it fit letter paper.

If the above isn’t true, try bumping the staff size up to 7.5mm and make sure any staff-attached Paragraph or Font Styles like chord symbols, dynamics, default text, tempo, etc. are set to be staff-relative rather than an absolute size so that they all scale by the same amount as the staff.

Ryan, thank you for your quick reply. I tried increasing the size of my Chord symbol font, and that made the chords much bigger, to my desired size. I don’t know what else I changed, but the note size also seems a little larger. Again thank you for all your advice.
