Entering the arrangers name in Dorico pro 5

I wrote an arrangement of a song and the title came up on the score but the arrangers name did not come up. I entered the info in the project info page . How do I enter the name now after the arrangement is written?

By default, the arranger’s name isn’t included in Dorico’s page templates. Provided you have Dorico Pro, you can easily add this yourself.

In Engrave mode, in the right-hand panel, expand the Page Templates section, and double-click the First page pair. The page template editor opens. I assume you want to add the arranger name to the frame that shows the composer name on the right-hand side: double-click that frame to edit its contents. Right-click to show a menu that allows you to add tokens, and add the arranger for the flow or the project as needed.

Click Apply followed by Close to close the page template editor, and that should do it.

Thank you very much. I will try that.

When you do add the arranger there, you may want to set the vertical justification of hte frame (and that of the lyricist frame if you have anything entered there) to top; otherwise Dorico will likely center the tokens vertically.

Also make sure the frame is large enough (vertically) to hold two lines of text.

I tried all of those steps and it is still not working. Do you know what I might be missing?

Can you post an excerpt of the Dorico project that will let us investigate?

As far as you can see in the picture you have to copy the layout from the left to the right because by default the music starts on a right page. There is a L → R button on the top of the window. And you have to click Apply.

Another reason could be if there is a page override, indicated by a red triangle in the Pages section. Remove it.

I said I would try to follow your suggestion and I did.
I right clicked to show a menu and one never popped up.
So I went to the Dorico help for tokens and found the tokens I needed.
I went back to the engrave and the text frame where the composer came up so I typed in the project arranger token and moved it below the composer token.
Thai’s was in the score and voila the two meanest were there. That’s what I wanted until I checked the parts.
The composer name was in the parts but no arranger. It did not migrate from the score. So I did it manually for each part.
Is there an easier way to do this.???

Hi @Shawn_Fairbrother, as Daniel explained, you need first to enter the text editor of that text frame by double-clicking (or more easily selecting its edge, possibly deselecting any green little square control points with TAB, and pressing Enter):

And, as @Vadian suggested, you edited only the Left page. Follow his suggestions and all will be good.

For the parts there is a separate Part First page Template that need (only once) to be edited accordingly, adding the necessary tokens. No need to edit every single part! Just visualise a part with the selector on the Toolbar, and you will see that the Page template Current Set changes from Default Full Score to Default Part. Then you can edit the First page template there (that will be the one for all the Parts)

If nothing works, please upload your project and we can give you step by step advices.

I will now try that and make a new arrangement to try it on.

Thanks for the advice!

Shawn, good, but please upload your last project and you will receive help in just five minutes  I’ll promise.
The guessing takes too much time (already 3 days), involves quite a few forum users (even the head/chief software designer) and is unnecessary.

Hello KB ,

I like Dorico Pro 5 very much. However, I am still trying to get the menu for tokens to come up for the arranger even after right clicking on the green box where the composer is. I am frustrated with this. Please help!

What do I need to download to you to make it easier to analyze.?
I started a new document to learn to try this process.
Thanks for your patience.

You need to double-click inside the green frame so that you get the cursor, then right-click when the cursor is positioned where you want the arranger to appear.

Shawn, it would be the actual file of your Dorico project. These files are usually named something like: my_song.dorico
If you know where your file sits, you can just drag it into the window, when replying to this message.

Thank you very much!
I just bought a new 2024 M4 IMac to use with Dorico Pro 5. This function that I asked about would not work. I know why now.
My computer mouse comes from the factory with the right click feature turned off. I contacted apple after great frustration and it is now working and I got the menu to pop up. I am very happy to have it work now.
So thank you for your assistance.
Greatly appreciated!

On a Mac you can also ctrl-click. It’s from the time when Mac mouses only had one button.
