Thanks for reading. I come from finale (after reading the news yesterday).
There is a very useful option there, and I want to learn it from here in Dorico.
In Finale it´s under MIDI/Audio > Retranscribe, for organizing the recorded midi in a more coherent way (like having the rhythmic patterns organized by tempos using ties instead of the rhythm going across the beats).
What is the Dorico equivalent of this? (I´m exploring the options in Dorico, but I haven´t been able to find it).
Dorico has Quantization, and you can re-quantize recorded MIDI data as many times as you like.
But there aren’t always direct equivalents of every function, because Dorico works in a different way. (And many of the things you had to do in Finale are done for you.)
It sounds like Dorico would do this automatically, using its (quite powerful) Notation Options for Note Grouping.
For example, Dorico knows to group/beam notes differently in 6/8 than in 3/4, even though each bar is the same notated length.
Unless notes have their duration or beaming explicitly set (by way of Force Duration and Edit > Beaming overrides), then they should be correct “by default”.
Why not have a go in a test Dorico project and check the results?
