Error installing Dorico SE 5 in safe mode (Mac OS X)

Greetings! This is my first post in this forum.

I made the mistake of installing Dorico SE 5 on Safe mode in Mac OS X.

Now, when I start Mac OS X in normal mode, some extensions and background process installed by Dorico (in safe mode) does not load.

I need advice about this:

  1. Should I uninstall Dorico SE 5 in safe mode (and reinstall it again in normal mode)?

or

  1. Could I load manually (or automatically) all Dorico required extensions and process in Mac OS X normal boot?

Thanks in advance!

I’d suggest just reinstalling Dorico (and HALion and samples, etc.) from the Steinberg Download Assistant. You shouldn’t need to uninstall.

If I reinstall Dorico from Mac OS X normal boot (not from Safe mode), Could it fix the links to the missing (but already installed) extensions and process?

It would be a real problem if I end with two identical Dorico folders, one full installation for Normal boot and a second full installation for Safe mode…

Safe mode boots from exactly the same disk – it just does things differently. There are no different folders for Safe and Normal boot.

Tonight, I will include images that shows the differences of using Dorico under safe mode and normal boot just for reference of future users that make the same mistake as myself. For example:

  1. all fonts used by every sample file included with the program are not available under safe mode but these fonts are available under normal boot.

  2. OSX system shows notifications about Dorico extensions and process in safe mode that are not shown in normal boot.

Yes, it will fix it. Just go ahead. The files might get redownloaded, in case you are concerned about your data usage.

Those things are to be expected. The Fonts will be installed, but just not loaded by the OS. Same for third-party extensions.

Safe Boot mode is a diagnostic mode for fixing or diagnosing OS problems. You shouldn’t really be running Dorico under Safe Boot.
