See if you can find VST connect se.dll in the component folder of Cubase ( in program files/steinberg/cubase 9/ components). rename the .dll part to .dl or.dlldisabled and see if that helps.
I am not sure were the program folder is on mac, but I do know the component folder is also there in the cubase folder. Just remove the vst connect se thingy and keep it somewhere for when needed or rename it.
