Error New install.."Driver irql not less or equal"

Hi there

I have just installed Cubase 8 today…

I keep getting this blue screen error, sometimes on startup and sometimes after 5 mnutes or so…

“driver irql not less or equal” then the laptop closes down…

I have updated all drivers, and downloaded Cubase instead of using the discs… this is driving me crazy…, any help would be appreciated…

thanks…

Did you find any solution to this? I am getting the same thing with Cubase Elements 8. It’s sporadic and sometimes happens as soon as I start the app, sometimes later. I also got this with Cubase Elements 7, which is part of the reason I upgraded, in the hope that this would be fixed! I’m running Windows 8.1 64 bit.

Hi Tom… the cause of the problem for me is… the Realtek high definition audio card…

To solve the problem.

Before I run cubase…

  1. go to Devices via shortcut { click windows logo on keyboard and the letter X }
  2. go to sound, video and audio and game controllers
  3. disable Realtek High Definition Audio

Then for me “Native instruments audio 6” takes care of the sound instead of Realtek

Then after closing cubase re-enable…

Cubase then runs without this error, I could find no other way to solve the problem. Updated drivers etc but this was the only cure…

I hope this solves the problem for you…
Best of luck…
