I also have a file that won’t open. I solely use Dorico for iPad. How can we fix this?

Welcome to the forum, Whittney. I’m really sorry that your file won’t open. It looks as if the file is incomplete somehow. Did you save this file via iCloud Drive, or was it saved to the app’s own folder? If it was saved via iCloud Drive, you may be able to find and recover an earlier version via the iCloud web app.
Thank you for the reply. I do not save these files in iCloud, so have no earlier version there. I need this file by the end of the month. I have a printed hard copy as my last resort, but I’m hoping I won’t have to input the whole work again. I do not understand what could have caused this issue. I have been using this lovely app for a couple years with no issues. I believe the last thing I did was remove my name from the composer area in order to submit it anonymously to a composition competition…
Thanks for the additional details. Changing things in the Project Info dialog should be completely safe, so I think (hope!) there’s no correlation between you doing that and the corruption you experienced. Unfortunately in the iPad version we don’t maintain automatic backups of the project like we do in the desktop version, so if the project gets corrupted and it’s not in iCloud Drive, there’s no recourse.
If you want to share the hard copy with me (perhaps you can snap photos of it using your mobile phone?) I can see whether it’s possible to reconstruct any of it using e.g. PlayScore.

Thanks for offering that. I ended up re-engraving the piece. I am responding now because I once again am having this issue. Today I tried to open a file I’ve only started 2 weeks ago and got the same message. I was worried about losing all of my other works, so I proceeded to start backing up all files outside of Dorico and found 2 older completed works that will not open. What a nightmare. I have lost too much work. I know I am not the only one having this issue. I hope it will be fixed in the future.

Please be assured that we are working hard to try to figure it out, but because we haven’t yet seen the problem ourselves, we are in the dark about what is causing it. If you want to send me the two files you’ve found that will not open, I’ll see what can be recovered from them.
