I keep getting this error during audio engine initialization at application start-up:

I decided to post it here due to it carrying somewhat different, more specific information compared to the topics on the same error already existing in the forum.

The offending behavior is the same: Dorico keeps hanging for few seconds and then moves on with the rest of the initialization.

Please let me know if you guys need further info in order to investigate the problem (if deemed necessary).

An RSS Error sounds like something related to the Dorico Hub rather than the program.

Yes, the Hub’s “Learn” tab uses RSS to get list of Blog posts, new videos, etc.

I know from the other posts that this error may be related to the Dorico Hub.
What I find a bit weird is the 203 HTTP response associated with it, which indicates that the web data request was successful but the enclosed payload has been modified by a transforming proxy compared with that of the origin server’s 200 ( OK ) response .
And the fact that it happens, according to the log, during audio engine initialization is also strange to me.

The retrieval of the RSS feed (actually, an Atom feed) is not carried out as part of the audio engine initialisation. Dorico launches the audio engine, which is a separate process, and then waits for the initialisation to be completed. In the meantime, Dorico proceeds to do further application setup itself, including requesting the feeds that are used to populate the Learn page of the Hub.

I don’t think there’s anything sinister here, except that it appears the request to the Atom feed is being redirected, perhaps by proxy, firewall or anti-malware software running on your system.

As a former professional software architect (now in retirement), I can imagine the application handles HTTP requests asynchronously, with the main audio engine initialization process running in a separate thread.
Personally, I’d have made clear these details in the log as well, but this is a different story.

In any case, today I don’t see the issue occuring… That is interesting…
