Error when updating to Cubase 9

I have been a Cubase user for many may years. I recently (4 days ago) upgraded to Cubase 8.5 pro. My purchase features a free upgrade to Cubase 9. However, when I try to install the upgrade I get this error -

“The installation source for this update is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it. Error Code:1612”

I have Cubase 8.5 installed from a disk. It works as designed. My elicense is approved for Cubase 9. All of the other Cubase 9 components installed correctly.

I believe this may have to do with the fact that my computer crashed and I had to reinstall Cubase 8.5 which installed perfectly, but Cubase 9 (downloaded) stops during installation and posts the above error. I have read that this could be Registry issue, but I don’t want to start messing with the Registry without specific knowledge on how to do so.

I created a ticket with Steinberg but have not heard back yet.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello,

We received your support request and one of our Application Specialists will be contacting you when we are back in the office on Monday regarding your issue.

With that error message if you are installing from a download I would check to make sure it is a complete download. If you are on PC it should be 11.7 gigs and Mac should be 11.3 gigs. If the file size is showing less than that the download is incomplete.

OK thanks. I performed a disk image rollback prior to the installation. I will try to reinstall and see how it goes. I will update the post.

I have the case assigned to me. I will send you an email replying to the request. Please contact me back there for further assistance.
