Where do I go if I want to add the expression term expressively or espress? If I go to Tempo it won’t let me add as an additional indicator. Is this one of those “I have to go to Engrave” things again?
Not sure what you mean with “additional indicator“, but with the tempo popup (shift-T) in write mode this can be entered
I’m not looking for that. This just changes the tempo I’m looking to add as an additional text. it’s often seen in scores as an additional instruction as to how expressively to perform the piece with in the indicated tempo.
I have created a persistent (italic) paragraph style called Expression and two keyboard shortcuts for Text and System Text depending on to apply the expression to individual staves or to all.
That sounds like that for which I’m looking.
Hi @Ralph_Fisher, since espressivo is a character description of a dynamic, you can insert this in the dynamic popover, after the dynamic, or enter it in the Suffix field in the Properties of the dynamic.
You can then hide the Intensity marking, which leaves only the suffix visible:
And if you don’t want any dynamic change, suppress its playback:
Once you made one of those items, you can alt+click copy to other places (and edit the suffix, if you need a different text). The suppress playback property, and Hide intensity marking property will be maintained for the new copied item.
WOW! Thanks Christian! That’s just what I was trying to find. So it’s done through Dynamics. Good to know!
You could also create a new Playing Technique. Then it’s available all the time.
Yes this is a great way. I use it to activate the lyrical legato which is available for many woodwinds.
