sorry, but i literally have just started and i am completely new to this… Im pretty much just completely learning as i go from the ground up… I am trying to figure out how i can adjust the tempo of a specific track or event without affecting the overall project tempo… it seems like this would be something that would be a pretty basic thing to do… am i just trippin?

Make sure the Musical Mode is not enabled on the Audio event. Then use the Sizing Apply Time Stretch tool (under the Object Selection tool - arrow) and resize the event.
