Events combined to parts - why?

Hi all,

(audio) events can be combined to parts. In the Cubase manual and on Youtube there are lots of explanations about how to do this, and how to work with parts or with events.

But - beginner’s question - why would I want to combine events to one part? What’s the advantage?

Thanks in advance

  1. you can combine several events on the same track, so that you can move them as one block
  2. with a single event you can expand the start and end position beyond the event’s own length. This can be helpful in a couple of cases: if you want to add some silence at either end of the event you can Bounce to Selection the part. Or, if the event is very small and you have trouble clicking it when zoomed out in the project, you can make it bigger by enlarging the part around it
  3. if the event start is not on the grid you can drag its part borders to the grid and thus use all the advantages of the grid
  4. it is free of charge and can be undone at any time

Very short audio event

Much easier to handle in a bigger part
