Expected order for hidden channels in the Mixer

Hi team,

I’d like to point out a software behavior that, I don’t know if it’s something you intended, but to me it seems like a usability issue.

It concerns how the order of channels in the Mixer is handled when a channel is temporarily hidden and then later restored to visibility.

Let’s consider the following steps:

  1. Let’s start with a simple Mixer configuration like this:

  1. Let’s hide the Group 2 channel (but everything could be done with similar results on any other channel type)):

The Group 2 channel remains in its place in Visibility, while it disappears in Order - Part.

  1. Let’s save the project and reload it.

  2. The Group 2 channel appears at the bottom of the list in the Visibility section, not in its original position:

  1. Restoring the visibility of the Group 2 channel at this point obviously positions the channel at the far right of the Mixer, not in the position it occupied before being hidden:

Naturally, what I would expect is that when a channel is hidden and then shown, the channel will retain its intended position before being hidden.

Looking forward to your feedback, thank you.

Hi Team,

just to avoid losing my report, aware of the huge number of requests you have to handle.

I also realize the priority given to more serious issues, but the one related to this post, I assure you, is quite annoying.

I had no doubts, as I wrote, I realize the priorities you must give yourselves…

This seems fixed, or? Connot reproduce, pls. mark solved if so, thanks.

Hi @musicullum,

using version 2.2.81, I reran the test, following the 5 steps in the initial post, and unfortunately, once again the hidden mixer channel appears, upon reactivation, on the far right of the mixer and not in its original position.

I also tried creating a new project and not using the provided test project, but with the same result.

It’s strange that you say the behavior can’t be replicated…

Ou, thank you @Giuseppe_Loffredo, you saved my time

@musicullum Yesterday I tested the same before I read this post today. I was prepared to record video with the same sequence Giuseppe made in screenshots. So I confirm it behave the same in 2.2.81. Tested on a projects with more than few tracks/channels.

we really prefer text. Do this, do that, then this does (not) happen.

Thank to you, @ArthurNeeman, for confirming what I observed.

@musicullum, I should point out that even with version 2.2.82, the issue regarding the behavior of mixer channels being hidden and then redisplayed remains the same.

Looking forward to further feedback, thanks.
