Export and dithering in Spectralyers 12

In Spectralayers 12 when Exporting Mixdown there are several dithering options; Rectangular, Triangular, Triangular with High Pass, Lipshitz Noise Shaping and Shibata Noise Shaping. What is the difference between those and under what circumstances should they be used?

Can you really hear the difference if you don’t have golden ears?

There is no mention of this in the Spectralayers 12 manual, unfortunately

It depends if you export to 16bit from 32 or 24. Coming from 32 to 24 it doesn’t need dithering as well exporting to mp3.

”Lipshitz is a general term for a feedback-based method that uses a filter to push quantization noise to higher, less audible frequencies, often by shaping the noise spectrum according to human hearing perception, as shown in FabFilter’s help documentation. Shibata is a specific type of noise shaping, primarily known for its use in high-end vinyl record styli, that uses a “needle” with a more complex contact area to improve groove interaction and detail. “
