Export Audio Mixdown - Multiple Channel Selection naming bug

Multiple Channel Selection in Export Audio Mixdown is frustratingly useless to me because almost every time I use it, it will not let me name my files anything. It doesn’t matter what the “conflict” option is. I always get this warning:

It always tells me there is x number of file name conflicts, x always matching the number of multiple channels I am trying to select. And then I get this conflict warning every single time no matter what I name it.

Nuendo 14.0.32

But I never get this problem with the Single Channel Selection export

And all source channels you have selected have unique names?
Or did you use a naming scheme that produces unique names?

No I create a unique name myself manually. No Naming scheme. And all source channels have completely different names.

Screenshot of the tracks & export mixdown dialog boxes?

But even if so, the Conflict option doesn’t change anything either. When set to Always Ask, I would assume it would ask me what to do instead of just saying I can’t make these files.
If set to Automatically create Unique File Name, this same error comes up ??
If set to replace the same error still comes up

Ok, in the “File Location” section, in the first field called “Name”, at the right-most side you have the cogwheel and drop-down menu that allows you to choose a naming scheme. If your naming scheme is literally just “Name” then any file you export will get whatever you have typed into that field - the “Name” field. With multiple files it tries to apply that name to all files.

You need to pick a naming scheme.

Your naming scheme names all the files the same. Add the Channel name or number.
@MattiasNYC beat me to it.

Here is a screenshot from the Nuendo manual:

If you just use “Name” you get the same thing for all files which won’t work. If you delete “Name” and pick “Channel Name” it should work.

But I want Name, not Channel Name, because the idea of Multiple Channel export is to combine a bunch of channels into one export, no? So I don’t get how it’s trying to “name all the files the same”, when I’m only trying to create ONE new file?

Ooof…

It looks like you have misunderstood then. The check boxes will select multiple sources for export as individual files. You get as many individual files as you have selected sources.

What you want is to select one source which contains all the audio you need. In order to do that you need to sum the desired signals into that one path and you do that in the mixer.

Each source that you want to sum should go to either a Group track or Output Bus, in the mixer, and then you choose that one source in the export dialog.

I should add though that your problem would still remain as long as you pick more than one source to the left, so just remember that.

Okay thank you, I think you’re right. I think I have a fundamental misunderstanding about the difference between Single Channel export and Multiple Channel export
