Since Cubase 14.0.20 I have a problem where Cubase doesn’t remember the path of the project folder. Whenever I click the folder path (which defaults to /mixdown) it open “C:\user\music” instead of “D:\Steinberg\Cubase Projects\Untitled”. The previous update didn’t have that problem. When you click the folder path it opens the Windows style folder navigation.
I’ve read in the forum that people had the same issue in older versions of Cubase but there’s no fix listed.
If it didn’t default to the mixdown folder I wouldn’t mind but I find the mixdown folder to be annoying and can’t get used to it.
I have the same issue. Please solve it - it’s frustrating. The workaround I found is manually choosing the export path, but I don’t see myself doing it manually for every project.
This problem still persists in Cubase Pro 15.0.5 (Win11 25H2) and it’s unbelieveably frustrating. I’m not sure if it’s a Windows thing or what.
In Export AudioMixdown dialog, the export path is set to the correct project’s folder (set via Use Project Mixdown Folder or Use Project Audio Folder). However clicking the path field opens Windows’ MUSIC system folder!
Once a different folder is selected via Choose Folder drop down menu, clicking the path filed jumps to this newly selected folder (as expected)
But then if I change the path again to project’s Mixdown or Audio folder via drop down, the path is shown correctly (Mixdown or Audio) but clicking the path field navigates to the newly selected folder (and not to the project’s Mixdown or Audio folder).
I can’t figure out what’s the problem.
EDIT:
I got rid of the system’s MUSIC folder and now clicking the path field navigates to “This PC”.
Are there any preferences that might be causing this unwanted behaviour? Navigating to the project’s Mixdown folder was a great improvement. Now it doesn’t work for me?
Please, could anyone on Windows 11 confirm it’s working correctly?
Aaah sorry I didn’t read your comment right! You mean these folders in \AppData\Roaming\Steinberg right? All my settings and templates are back to default so that must be the preference folder I think.
