Export bug - always have to adjust pre-roll for correct export?

I’m using the latest version of Dorico with the latest version of NotePerformer (along with NPPE if that makes a difference).

I’m discovering as of late that I always have to adjust this setting in order for the export to not skip the first 1-2 notes:

The default is 0.0 seconds. This setting as far as I understand is designed for grace notes, however I’ve observed this issue on exports which have no grace notes in the beginning (or anywhere else in the piece), and at all tempos, fast and slow. Not sure if it’s an issue in tandem with using NPPE (maybe it needs a little pre-roll)?

…and IIRC for arpeggiated (rolled) chords on the first beat of a piece.

I can’t recall the last time I’ve had an arp/rolled chord starting a piece, but noted as well.

Yesterday it happened for me with a simple 8th note passage starting on flute, but on a rather slow piece at q=60.

Circling back to inquire if anyone else experiences this issue. It’s been several months and I find I always have to update this setting to at least 0.5 seconds, otherwise the first note will not be exported. This has been the case on project after project, and up through the newest version of Dorico. To be clear it happens for me with normal notes, not just grace or arpeggio lines.

I’d like to hear from any other NP and NPPE users if they have encountered this or not. My suspicion is that it may have something to do with the fact that NP has a delayed look-ahead time which is not factored into audio export and therefore must be compensated. That probably doesn’t make sense but it’s all I can think of…

But if this is not the case with other NP users, something else must be going on and I’d like to get to the bottom of it. Thank you!

Yes, I have set pre-roll to avoid this problem with NP and NPPE too.

I have not found this necessary except in special cases (rolled chord, grace note, etc.)
