Export layout options for a certain layout (revisited)

This topic was opened a few months ago, but it morphed into a different discussion that never answered the initial question!

Is there a way to export a certain layout and all its settings/options, so you can import said layout into a different existing project? I have a new format of part that is different enough from my existing parts to not want to recreate it in every existing project file I want it added to. I just want to create it once, then import that layout into several other projects.

By using the Library Manager, you can import all the layout options from a chosen layout in another project into a chosen layout in the current project (hope it’s clear!)

It does seem like it might be better to have that import/export functionality within the Layout Options dialog, though.
