Export score and parts as separate PDFs in one go

I just want to do exactly as the title says and can’t figure it out. I can see from multiple forum posts and support articles that it is possible, but no one is explaining how. Everyone says to just select all the part names in the left panel but when I do that it only exports the last file in the list. Someone mentioned file name recipes but didn’t say how to use them. I tried Layout Name $l and got the same result. Too many people asking to export as one document which is not at all what I’m trying to do. I am not the only person who has asked this question on the forum, but after reading several posts I am beyond frustrated at the blatant failure of anyone to actually provide a detailed answer!

Edit To Add: Messing with the file name recipe screwed my document up and I had to manually input the part names as I exported them individually. So apparently I don’t even know how to export parts anymore. This is preposterous. Why on earth is instrument not a file name ingredient?

Hi @AutisticFinale, I don’t know what you are doing, but it should be very straightforward to export PDF of single layouts with one click on Export.

Here a visual guide on the steps you can try to test it (follow the numbers):

Because in Dorico, a player may hold multiple instruments, and a layout may then contain multiple players. So a layout doesn’t necessarily include the music for just one instrument.

In many cases, a part layout includes the music for just a single player, and the player holds one instrument. In those cases, the layout name will match the instrument name.

And welcome to the forum!
