I would like to know if the Dorico team is planning to include the feature to Export the Score as Video (like in Sibelius).
I switched to Dorico because it has the best set of tools for writing sheet music for Classical Guitar. However, I’m currently dividing my work between Dorico and Sibelius, since the latter offers this feature.
I’m not sure if this feature is highly requested by other users, but I believe it’s an excellent educational and promotional tool. The use of video platforms and social media is an important part of musical work.
It’s likely lower priority for the team, though I agree it would be a nice alternative in our modern era, since it’s becoming an increasingly common way to share works.
I do this regularly for my portfolio, though for now it’s a bit of a manual workaround. In short, I export a PDF and audio separately, and then simply animate the PDF to the music in a video program. Most even basic/free video editors offer this simple feature. It goes pretty quickly now that I’ve developed a workflow around it. For now, that’s probably about as close as we can get – but like I said I would love a native feature too.
Manual work could indeed be a short-term workaround… but a native solution would be fantastic.
The Dorico team is very creative and ingenious when it comes to musical notation solutions, and I believe that a feature like this (which has been in Sibelius for quite some time) could be easily implemented by them.
It does, but at the same time, still has no VST3 support. With Finale no longer widely available for sale, Sibelius is now the only major notation package that doesn’t have VST3 support.
YES! I am a long-time Finale user now switched to DORICO. Exporting my scores to video that flips pages when listening is a hugely useful feature for me; I’m hoping DORICO creates it soon!!! If not already in Version 6 release, PLEASE include this capability in 6.1!!!
