I would like to export/save my user settings (all of the preferences I’ve changed) for Dorico 5 before I upgrade to Dorico 6. I’ve seen conflicting ways to do this on the forum over several different versions. All help appreciated.
Your D5 user settings are stored in c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Dorico 5
on Windows and Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Dorico 5
on Mac.
You can just back up those folders, although they also include things like the application log that aren’t technically preferences.
On the other hand, when you install D6 it won’t touch your D5 preferences; it makes a copy of those preferences under Dorico 6
. So you don’t really need to back things up if you’re worried about losing things in the upgrade.
Thank you!
Hi, I’m not sure if this is correct thread, but I just updated to Dorico 6 (though I don’t think that’s the issue) and I am working on a project with several other people. I need to make their scores look the same as mine.
I tried importing with the library manager both from a dorico project as well as a user library but it seems like only a portion of the elements are translating.
For example, I have bar numbers for every measure, located beneath the systems and enclosed in rectangles. the bar numbers did not appear to change when I imported and applied all the options to their dorico project.
For today, I just started with my master project template and copy/pasted their music in. However, even there I’m noticing some discrepancies such as the default text in font styles and paragraph styles not matching, so it’s requiring a fair amount of manual manipulation that i’d like to avoid on the other 10 or 15 pieces I need to import. Is it possible this is because i’m importing Dorico 5 sessions to 6 or likely something else?
I’ve not investigated the changes in the Dorico 6 Library Manager at length, and I’m not sitting in front of it right now, but certainly in previous versions it wasn’t sufficient to click the ≠ button next to Layout Options in the top left corner - one needed to click on Layout Options, select a part layout from the left dropdown (current project) and another part layout from the right dropdown (project from which to copy settings), and even then, it would only transfer the Layout Options to the one selected part layout.
I believe there’s now functionality to copy settings to all part layouts in one go, but you’d still have to have a part layout selected in the old project (I think!)
thanks, @pianoleo I will play with that. maybe I was trying to apply things too universally.
