I’m exporting all my clarinet parts to pdf files to use in a new tablet. My two-page parts export vertically which isn’t what I want. Using Dorico Elements am I able to export the file as a pdf sweeping left to right so they can be easily turned when playing?
Surely, whether PDF pages display vertically or horizontally depends on your PDF reader application?
Most have an option to display single pages vertically, or 2-page spreads, with an option for whether the first page is on its own or not.
You can export PDFs as spreads from the Print menu, which places 2 pages together on one PDF page. But I don’t know if that’s available in Elements.
Benwiggy, thank you, I get it. Dorico Elements doesn’t have the print range of the Pro copy but I have been able to use an online pdf app that places two pdf files side by side to view on a new tablet. However, Im now faced with one clarinet part that has three pages and I can’t see any way of doing this.
An online app? Why not just use a PDF viewer app on your tablet that displays spreads?
You can use a PDF viewer app especially suited for music, such as forScore on iPad or Piascore, SongOn, etc. on Android tablets.
These apps have the option to display two pages as a spread when turned to horizontal position (landscape orientation) even though they are exported as single page PDF’s, which is the normal workflow.
As for the third page turn, you can tap the side of the tablet’s screen to turn pages anyway, whether you are viewing single pages (vertical) or spreads (horizontal). If you have rest or rests placed conveniently at the page turn, you have time to tap the screen, or purchase a Bluetooth page turner pedal (AirTurn DUO 500, Pageflip etc.). Then it’s even easier to perform live and turn pages as you go.
