Exporting audio of "stems" - sections of instruments

Hi,

I’m on a 2019 MacBook Pro (intel silicon) 2.3 GHz 8 core intel i9, 64GB memory, using latest Doric 6.2.30 of 29 May and Dorico 6 AudioEngine Version 6.1.0.13.

I would like to export (for example) audio of just the Reeds (pic, flutes, clarinets) from a concert band score. By default I use Noteperformer for playback. I tried using the mixer and muting everything expect the Reeds. It plays back as I wish. When I tried export audio mpo3 - I got the whole band. I swapped to HALion sonic / HSO and did the same - muting all but the Reeds - export -audo - mp3. Same result - full band audio.

Please is there a way to export only the Reeds ?

One v clumsy way would be to duplicate the score and deleted instruments - but that seems unduly crude - there must be a better way - a hope.

your help please.

Layouts are useful for that. Dorico will playback/export whatever instruments are in the currently selected layout, be it the full score, a single part/layout or some other layout you define. You could create a new layout called reeds or whatever, and just click the checkboxes for the instruments to you want to include from the full score.
