Exporting mixdown from Cubase 13 Artist with Tempo information for Mainstage

Hi,

My band uses Apple’s Mainstage for playback during rehearsal, and soon live. Mainstage’s playback plugin has a feature to sync to the tempo information included in audio tracks.

When I export individual tracks from Cubase and import them into Mainstage however, the tempo information is missing which disables the associated features in the playback plugin.

I’ve tried to export individual tracks with the mixdown feature and enabling “Insert Tempo Definition”, both in AIFF and WAV format, and I’ve tried with both Instrument and Audio tracks, but none of the combinations work.

After doing some research, I saw that for Audio tracks “Musical Mode” might need to be enabled, which I also tried, but it didn’t make a difference.

If someone has experience with this, I would highly appreciate the help!

I ended up figuring it out, so sharing here in case anyone faces the same issue: it seems that Mainstage uses some non-standard to look for tempo information.

I solved the issue by exporting my stems from Cubase, importing them in a GarageBand project with the right tempo configured, and exporting them again from GarageBand.

It’s a hassle, but at least I’m not blocked anymore!
