Exporting Multiple Audio Mixes and Cutting Off Instrument Track Audio

Hi everyone!

I want to preface that we sent this off to Steinberg support and they were not able to help us since they couldn’t replicate it with Halion. They recommended we look out to the forums for help!

We have noticed an issue with exporting audio mixdowns, specifically when exporting multiple tracks or stems at the same time. Some audio from certain tracks is being cut off short. We have noticed this on multiple occasions and the issue can be replicated on our end. It has also been occurring on multiple computers and multiple operating systems.

We use Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers, all running Cubase 12, and all have extremely high specs-

RAM: Over 128 GB for every computer, two have 192 GB
CPUs: Core i9 10900X, Core i9 14900X, and Ryzen 9 7900X

Just an FYI- we are using two tracks, duplicated several times. one (G-Solo x64 Gong Drum) is using Soundlib G-Player and the other (MA Soaring Cecile - Legato) is using a custom Kontakt 6 instrument.

Our current routing is all of the choir tracks are routed to a CHOIR FEMALE group track, (same with PERC SUB) then those tracks are routed to a summing track (=CHOIR and =PERC) then everything is once again routed to a 2mx group track and that is routed to Stereo Out. There are no plugins on each of the group tracks, these are simply used for organization and exporting stems.

When exporting Stereo Out- nothing is incorrect, however when exporting “multiple” stems from PERC SUB, much of the audio is cut off. Usually after one measure. Top is the correct 2mx audio file with the long decays, SOLOing the perc sub stem. Bottom is Exporting “multiple” but only selecting the PERC SUB stem.

We have noticed this occurs with all three setting Inserts and Strips, Groups/Sends, and Master/Groups/Sends. We did not try dry as almost always there will be processing on the tracks, But we feel the result will be the same.

The next layer of this is that depending on how many choir tracks are being used/printed, the length of the PERC SUB stem will actually be longer. This is extremely peculiar to us.

The picture below shows all the audio tracks we created as we went and tested different configurations, The further down we went the more choir tracks were duplicated while printing. (The choir was routed to the perc sub stem for the time being as we noticed it happening if they were routed together or separately) We ended up duplicating the choir until we got to 100 tracks to finally see the PERC SUB stem get to it’s full length.

This also tends to occur when trying to Render the midi in place, We didn’t look too far into it as exporting stems is more important to us at the moment.

What could be causing this issue, We have only noticed it using G-player (or in this case G-Solo) which is just the monophonic version of G-Player. Is this a G-Player issue? or would this be a cubase issue since the exports work fine when exporting a single track?

Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this?? We have a cubase session with several exports (as you see from the picture above) that we could send out. It is our template. Note that this issue still occurs in an empty session as well.

Any insight is helpful!

Thanks for all y’alls help,
