Expression map articulation delay compensation

Wow! At last we get it in Cubase 15. However, it would be even better if I could choose bpm divisions as well as ms compensation. In film scoring I have intensive tempo maps, and the ms selection is not suitable in each tempo change, but if I could change it to a bpm division it would be more practical.

This confuses me. The delay comp is (obviously) to compensate for the amount of time it takes for the sound to reach its main attack point. This stays the same regardless of tempo.

For example, string library with 50ms delay before the notes reach their perceived start. That 50ms is not tempo dependant.

Could you unconfuse me please?

OK. If I have a fast tempo the ms I need to compensate the delay on the articulation will be more than on a slow tempo. In your example of 50ms, a slow tempo means it reaches the attack (musically) earlier than on a faster bpm tempo.

Thanks for the reply,

Still confused. As mentioned, the compensation required by libs is a fixed amount, regardless of tempo.

Most libs even state that fixed amount in their user guide.

For example, look here:

Thinking of this a different way, to address the OP: because we set the time in milliseconds, effectively this means that we automatically take tempo into account so it should do the right thing for every tempo. This means you can work with notes snapped to the grid and it should Just Work for all tempos.

Hi Paul that is exactly my point. Maybe there is some library that works in a different way?

Hey Guys, I guess I just got up too early! My math is not what it used to be. I stand corrected, and that’s good because it means the new upgrade is going to solve a lot of stuff on my scores! At least it got my brain thinking!

Bed? What is that? Hehe.

Oh, you mean the studio floor. Yup that’s pretty confortable here.
