Hi Steinberg Team and community,
I am experiencing a critical issue in the latest Cubase Pro 15.0.20 where certain Expression Map articulations completely fail to display in the Score Editor,
Environment:
While the Expression Map correctly triggers the sound changes in the VST instrument, the visual representation of specific articulations—most notably the standard Trill symbol and any Custom Articulations (whether Text or Musical Attributes)—does not appear in the Score Editor. This bug would not appear in Cubase Pro 14.
15.0.21 still has this issue
Moreover, all custom text that has been properly set up in the expression map cannot be displayed correctly on the score at present. Including custom text, such as dynamics and Trill, none of these can be displayed in the musical score.
The entire system for displaying articulation text in the score is now completely non-functional. I hope the official team can notice this issue, which still persists after upgrading to version 15.0.21. However, all these functions work perfectly in Cubase 14, where I can customize all articulations such as the text prompts “Marcato 1” and “Staccato 2” without any issues, yet they fail to display at all in the score of Cubase 15.
In the workflow of Cubase 14, string projects created with Expression Map can perfectly display all playing articulation in the score when the Score Editor is opened, whereas in Cubase 15, the score can only display a small part of them incorrectly.
The symbol that you choose in the old fashioned dialog is not currently directly used to affect the display in the score editor, unlike before.
Instead, the new built in techniques in the techniques list in Cubase 15 seem to have some extra hidden properties that links them to specific items in the score editor.
What this probably means is that you have to newly make your maps in Cubase 15 at the moment in order for the symbols to appear, and make sure that you use the factory option for the articulations instead of making your own custom one with the same name and same symbol selected, as the custom one will be missing the links to the score editor object.
Even in that case, not all symbols appear to be mapped yet, but you should be able to get quite a few to work that way.
Thank you for your reply! Yes, some of them can be displayed using the built-in techniques of Cubase 15, but Trill (HT or WT) and many other symbols still cannot be correctly mapped to the score. Looking forward to the complete score mapping update.
