Hello folks
Still struggling to get to grips with a trial of Dorico!
I have a large Cubase project that I want to transer to Dorico.
I gather that the way to do this is to export it from Cubase as a midi file, then import that into Dorico. But will all my expression map data - ie. the actual articulation marks on the score - successfully transfer as part of that midi file?
If not, is there any way around having to input each articulation mark into the score again in Dorico?
Thanks
I found a manual page about importing EMs, including from Cubase.
See this answer from Paul for some details of the state of things as of 2020.
Thanks Mark
I’ll have a proper look at that manual page when I get a bit more time, but at superficial glance it appears to be about importing the actual saved expression maps themselves. I anticipated no problem with that. I’m more concerned about the expression map articulation markings in my score in Cubase. The instruction in the score to play a trill here or a pizzicato there etc. Is that data saved in the midi or MusicXML file?
Thanks
I’m no expert on this; I just found Paul’s 2020 post by searching. If that doesn’t answer the question – Anyone else?
Yes, the articulations should be stored in the MusicXML.
In terms of importing expression maps, it’s better to use a custom-built Dorico EM if one exists.
What libraries are you using?
