Personally I like MIDI numbers (Cubase is nice because you can enter note names/octaves OR note numbers); BUT, I have 12 year old BOOKS to thumb through and get what I need at a glance. The rule of thumb back when I still had a head of hair was simple: “The only thing that really matters is that before applying any extra RPN/NRPN special tuning methods that an instrument might support, the MIDI event for Note On/Off 69 should ALWAYS be 440 A.”

Those old books also gave us breakdowns for alternative tuning tables (as calculated from Note 69 at 440 A). Just open to the page and look…easy peasy.

So, my point is, with a good MANUAL/Documentation, that has a nice chart for users to use as a reference would be a very good start.
