Expression-Map import keyswitches only on midi channel A1?

I just made the experience that importing key-switches only works on midi channel A1. I also have to set the instruments to this channel. If it is set to Port C

it imports from A1.

So I have to set for example the trumpet also to A1 and than get this

Then I delete the Violins and set the Trumpet back to C1.
But this is a very cumbersome way to do it.
Is there a better way or do I have to deal with this?
