Expression maps for SWAM wind?

Hi Naomi. I’m on vacation and can have a look. But I made the expression map for the sections and remember that you have to tune the solo strings a little. The solo strings have note only Pizz but also col legno the are controlled by the same CC. So you could change the value in the expression map or the curve in the Instrument.

Maybe you have to go to the part of the expression map that controls harmonics and set the value to 1 on „note off". Or maybe remove it on the instrument itself

Joining this thread rather late, since I’m still pretty new to Dorico. The whole SWAM world is an interesting place as concerns Dorico. The maps are very messy and not always logical, as I used Sample Modeling as a starting point and didn’t translate everything. For example, I don’t use the vibrato strength separately, but have routed it to MIDI CC 11 (expression). This makes it more intense the louder the instruments play. The whole thing is still a work in progress. I also make changes depending on the piece of music. Especially when it comes to the length and bow pressure of the short articulation. Based on this I found that changing harmonics from an “add-on” to a “base” technique worked, although I’m sure setting a note off value would also work. The pizzicato/col legno thing worked for the most part once I changed the CC5 value for every arco technique to 1, although for some reason the second note of each flow remained pizzicato unless I manually forced a CC5 automation.

I will have to go through the full range of possibilities for the solo strings I guess—as you mentioned in one of those threads, the bow pressure values are too high compared to the section strings, so those usually had to be adjusted; also automated a few other things like saltando, up-bow/down-bow, and punta d’arco/au talon but it’s obviously messy and I end up making a lot of manual adjustments. I definitely also want to find a way to independently affect vibrato without totally decoupling it from CC11.
