In my new complexity school engraving for a colleague, he often uses broken extended beams in his MSS. Not that it is critically important, but it would be kinda nice to be able to do this. Is there any way this is possible in Dorico? I attach a typical example here.
Hi @Andro, you can set the Partial Beam Length. This is a global Engraving option thought and may be influencing other places in an undesired way:
partial beam length.dorico (1.4 MB)
It looks like there is basis for a feature request here:
An option for, somehow setting a Partial Beam Length as a “local” Property.
I have also worked extensively with a composer who uses flat, straight—though not necessarily that elongated—beams for every quaver/eighth note and shorter.
I have not yet tried if it is possible to go into Music Symbols and replace the flags with straight lines. It may be a pain for positioning.
