Hi all
When I use an external effects plugin on a clip, there is a lot of pops at the start of the track and it finishes prior to the very end. Adjusting latency does not seem to help the issue. Has anyone experienced similar issues, and found solutions?
I am using WaveLab Pro 12
Clocking problems maybe???
I’ve seen reports from PG that the External FX plug-in wan’t really designed to be used on Clips when there are other plugins on the clip involved. Maybe I’m wrong but I think have seen this mentioned.
It’s one of the many reasons I do the other method of using a Reference Track to feed an analog chain instead of the External FX plug-in.
Try External FX in the Master Section.
Yeah, it works a bit better when I use them on a “track” but still having issues where tracks are ending a few milliseconds earlier than the end of a clip.
I have been using Pro Tools for processing for years, and DSP Quattro for album layout. My setup in PT is similar to yours in that I am printing things internally so I can see the waveform. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem I can route signal internally in WaveLab. I would have to send it out a DA and back in through an AD just to print to a track. I wish WL would give the option for internal busses.
Here is a screenshot showing the issue. Now, as opposed to using external effects, I am using a Reference track, using an output bus to send signal to my analog chain, then bringing it back in on a Track. In this screenshot, there is no processing: not a plugin, not anything on other than the signal being sent to the hardware, which is all in bypass.
This session is at 48/24 so shouldn’t be that heavy on the CPU, especially without any plugins. Is it possible to get rid of this latency? I do not have this problem in Pro Tools with similar routing.
No, that did not help it either. Ugh!
