Lynx Aurora here with the PCIe card. I do think these problems depend on if ASIO drivers have been written (properly) a certain way.
I simply leave my External FX Insert at 0ms.
Instead of running the ping, I create a test track with a blip that I send out through an External FX insert on a group and record the return to an audio track by setting the input of the audio track as the Groups output.
The blip comes back sample accurate, regardless of memory latency, ASIO guard latency, or plugin latency.
This is all with ‘Adjust for Record Latency’ off, and ‘0 Samples Record Shift’ <---- Maybe check these settings in Studio Setup
