External Plugins - Recalling Inserts

I was just wondering how everyone works with external plugins and recall.

Are you still keeping recall sheets for external gear, or have you found a digital solution?

For EQ, has anyone ever used Q-clone to save settings and were happy with the results?

Are there similar plugins to this that you use? How about for compression / effects, and how are you preparing for possible future corrections to a mix? Are you printing these instances or relying on the plugin for a future correction?

I haven’t locked down a process myself, so I was just wondering how the Steinberg community works with this great feature.

I print everything, and also take photos and import them into the free vst plugin “Snapshot” in case I need to make a change on a channel that requires it to be reprinted. This way your recall photos are right there in every session.

For eq, I use EQ Curve Analyzer vst to show me the curve and I take a screenshot and add that to Snapshot plugin too.

For Compressors on a mix bus, I set up a couple tracks with tones and kick samples that crosses the threshold roughly about the way my track does and I print those, then phase flip them. Then if I need to recall, I use the photos in snapshot to get close, then fine tune everything until it nulls with the “live” tones and kicks…

Thanks for the reply! I’m definitely going to check out that Snapshot plugin, that sounds great.

Hi,
I started out using paper recall sheets, but it was a pain.
After some research I found “Session Recall” software. It’s a real relief for me. Check it out, maybe it will work for you.
