Extra strings staves after turning single player into a section

Hi Everyone,

I reopened my orchestral score recently and noticed that all string parts were created as a single player. Now that I turned them into section player, I’ve noticed that I still have all these staves I created “div” parts in (they are not real divisi as per dorico settings). There are bars where 12 strings div. is needed in violins I and II alone. Now, I’ve tried creating some simple divisi and notices condensing is not working as it does in woodwinds for instance. Also, given that I have 6 violin I parts, how would dorico condensed it into a one stave anyway? Lastly, is there a possibility to apply string div. in only some section of the score leaving the most condensed part as is (without ever condensing) and have it remain in a “non div.” staves as before? How would that affect parts layout later on?

thanks,

Jakub

Hi @jakubmrojek, it is difficult to visualise what you describe. Uploading the Dorico file, with the description of what you need, referring to the file you upload (bar numbers, etc…), would make it much easier to understand your situation and to give advices.

Hi Christian,

thanks for your reply. I did try to restore the unison to the div. and it did the trick. I guess, I was a bit confused about “hide the staves’ vs. “condensing” vs. restore to unison” thing.
