Extract Midi Grooves (Cubase 8)

Hi all,

How do I extract grooves from midi files???

And add them to build up unique quantize options in the quantize area of the arrangement window (i.e. where you choose either 1/16, 1/8 or 1/32 triplets etc).

In previous versions of cubase I could achieve this by importing midi files and using the ‘part to groove’ function if my memory serves me correctly. However this option doesnt seem to be available in cubase 8

Also, if anyone knows how to extract grooves from audio files in cubase 8, this would be massively appreciated

Kind Regards and Merry xmas to all those who celebrate the festive holiday xx

Just drag the MIDI onto the Quantize Panel, then you can save it as a quantize preset.

To extract grooves from audio, read pg483 of the manual to extract MIDI from audio, then do as above to convert it to a groove.

so please can anyone tell me how to export midi groove preset from cubase and save it like *.GRV file?
thanks

This is clearly old, but it still ranked highly when I was trying to work out some of the same things.

So to try to answer you, to my understanding, you do not export the grooves per se, you just save them as presets.
