F#dim7 chord bug

Dorico Elements 6.1.10.1078 doesn’t handle F#dim7 chords correctly. Other chords appear to work OK.

“F#dim7” always displays with a large “#” sign, a giant circle, and a “7”, no matter how dim7 chords are set to display.

For example, if dorico is set to display dim7 chords as “dim.” with no “7”, it shows:

Changing one letter in this chord name from “F#dim7” to “G#dim7” (no other changes) displays correctly as:

G#dim.

Sorry but your silly system limits me to one embedded item so I can’t show it. But the “#” sign and “dim.” are the correct smaller size, and there is no circle.

This behavior persists across multiple projects, and after restarting Dorico.

Thanks,
Kevin

What fonts are you using under Library->Font styles->Chord symbol font and Chord symbol music text font? Could you share a small file with the issue?

Bug project file is attached. It looks like this:

F#dim7 Bug.dorico (1.4 MB)

Is this what you want?

Or this?

The first one (circle 7) is what I want in my score. I set it to display “dim7” to demonstrate that, only on the F#dim7 chord, dorico is ignoring that setting.

I just removed the F#dim7 chord symbol override under Library->Chord symbols by clicking the circular arrow at the lower left.

Jesper

Then these settings under Library->Engraving Options->Chord Symbols->Quality. Choose what you want.

I see that it’s not available in Elements. Did you edit the chord symbol with Pro using the demo?

Jesper

No I didn’t edit the chord symbol using pro.

I did at one point download some user-posted files that may have been created in pro with a bad F#dim7 chord. I didn’t think I used any of them for my project though.

Ah, that makes sense. Are you set for now?

Jesper

I don’t have Pro, so I still need to figure out the best way to fix my broken project. I guess that would be to start a new one without the bad F#dim7, and copy the music into it?

You can pm it to me, and I’ll fix it. Click my avatar, and message.

How do I PM you? It’s not obvious to me…

Click my avatar, jesele, and then message.

Jesper

I don’t see the “message” button, only the “posts in topiv”.
Do I need pro to PM too?

I mean here on the forum. Click my name. Or maybe if you only used the forum for a short time, it’s not possible yet. Not sure.

Jesper

Or upload it here, then you can delete it again after I download it.

Jesper

All I see is this. But no matter, what I really want fixed is my empty base project file, I’ll post it here. I can then just copy my score into it.

Probably you don’t see the message icon because this is your first post. It will be unlocked after some time.

Same reason! And welcome to the forum!
