Factory settings

I’ve just noticed something rather annoying today: if you select “factory settings” in the options, this will reset all settings for those options, not just for the category you’re currently viewing.

For example, if I change a few settings in Engrave options for slurs and then want to revert to the default settings for those slurs, selecting “factory settings” will also reset the settings I have changed, such as those for accidentals.

The same applies to all options. I am therefore forced to reset my settings if I have not previously saved them as defaults. It would be good, in future versions of Dorico, for these factory settings to affect only the currently open category.

This has been requested quite often here, and I don’t know whether the team is considering changing it. In the meantime, you can take advantage of the Library Manager, which reacts instantly to any change and lets you restore settings individually.

(Of course easier with a big screen or with two screens!)
