Faderport 8/16 as MIDI controller in Cubase

Hi
Are there any possibility that I can use my Faderport 8 as a mixer and MIDI remote for controlling CC’s in the MIDI-editor?

Hi,

MIDI Remote doesn’t control the plain MIDI CCs.

Use the Faderport 8 as a plain MIDI controller. If you are using it as a MIDI Remote device, add a new page and remove all the assignments. In this case, it will send the MIDI data through to the tracks.

Hi Martin
But can it be connected so I can switch between standard mix mode and MIDI CC?

Hi,

Yes, by switching the MIDI Remote pages.

So it’s not possible to do on the unit it self?

Hi,

In theory, you could switch the hardware from the Mackie Control to send other data (like plain MIDI CCs). But there is a risk that it would send MIDI data used in the Mackie Control protocol, which could trigger some of the MIDI Remote functions.

If you can switch the pages from the hardware, then you can go my way and switch the pages directly on the hardware.

On the other hand… The faders are sending PitchBen data at channels 1-8 in the Mackie Control mode. This is not very practical for the plain MIDI CC mode.

Hi Martin

There is this other guy, who has managed to make the Faderport 8/16 work really well with a custom script: MikeBello
I haven’t managed to make it work yet, have you any knowledge of this?

Regards Stig

Hi,

Yes, I have quite good knowledge about MIDI Remote, and I also know the Mackie Control protocol very well.

Have you seen this: https://youtu.be/zduao779FIE?si=lfBJKIumOvodbhEa

Yes, there’s a standalone thread around here on this from about a year ago.
