By having two instruments to look like a grand staff, I could solve this problem. The instrument in this case is an electronically augmented accordion, where each hand has its own sound/register.
The top staff is the aim and the bottom staff is what I have now. But could I somehow get rid of the 1 & 2? Or is there another (preferably not time consuming) way to fake the staff label?
There could be a better solution, but I once did this for the same situation: assuming you don’t need these kind of instrument numbers elsewhere in the project, in Paragraph Styles, set Staff Labels (inner) foreground colour to transparent.
Otherwise, I think that if you slightly change the name of one instrument, or if you put it in a group to avoid numbering, you’ll get 2 staff labels, which is not what you want.
Thank you! Unfortunately I need the numbers for violins and string divisis.. I think I’ll just leave it like that for now. It looks a bit ugly, but at least the playback works.
However I am a little bit afraid of the bracket change, in the past I have gotten unwanted behaviour with the automatic brackets and braces if there is a manual change anywhere in the score.
