Falcon 2026 and Cubase 14 Pro freezing

Hello Forum,

I just recently updated my copy of UVI Falcon to Falcon 2026 and it keeps freezing Cubase 14 Pro when I close out of the current project and try to close Cubase 14 Pro (Cubase becomes unreponsive). Any general thoughts or suggestions for this Windows 11 user?
Thanks

Hi,

If this was the only update you made, then it really points to the plug-in issue. Therefore, I would recommend to get in touch with the plug-in vendor.

Thanks Martin. The recent Windows 11 update could be related, but since this error only occurs with Falcon, I’m assuming that it’s a plugin issue.

Interesting - I started noticing Cubase hang on the hub screen after exiting a project with Win11, and also just upgraded Falcon. Didn’t make the connection - but just tested a fresh project with Falcon 2026 and instant crash on exit.

I printed my tracks to audio and disabled in my project - so it’s not crashing anymore, but hopefully UVI fixes it.

Hi,

Do you have the *.dmp file available? Can you attach it, please?

Hi,

Generate a DMP file and share it via Dropbox or a similar service, please.

Use the Microsoft ProcDump utility to generate a DMP file, please.

  1. Please download ProcDump64 from Microsoft (~650kB) and extract the archive to a local folder on your hard disk.

  2. Run Command Prompt (cmd) as administrator (right click and select “run as administrator”)

  3. Navigate (in the Command Prompt) to the folder with the extracted procdump file.
    For example:
    cd C:\ Users \ \ Downloads \ Procdump
Note: the dmp file will be written into that folder.

  4. Launch Cubase/Nuendo. You can work as usual. At any time, change to the command prompt and start procdump, to monitor Cubase/Nuendo for unexpected behaviour (see next step).

  5. Launch procdump64 via Command Prompt:
    Cubase:
    procdump64 -e -h -t Cubase

Nuendo:
procdump64 -e -h -t Nuendo

The -h option will write a dmp file in case of an application hang. This might kick in too early sometimes, in case some action takes a little longer. Feel free to skip the “-h” option, if you are only up for fetching crashes.
The option -e will catch exceptions and the option -t terminations of the application.

  1. Prodump is now monitoring the Cubase/Nuendo process and will write a crash log, in case Cubase/Nuendo crashes or hangs. Perform the action that causes Cubase/Nuendo to crash and send us the generated crash dmp.

ZIP and share the DMP file via Dropbox or a similar service, please.

Do you mean that you’re exporting all of your Falcon tracks to audio and that fixes it from crashing? Also, what are you “disabling” exactly? Thanks.

The news from Microsoft is that the recent Windows 11 update has some major problems.

I have the same problem with Falcon 2026 and FL Studio

What news?

I typed “Windows 11” into the Google News search bar.

That’s it? Specifics? Anything that might cause Cubase to fail while running Falcon?

I can’t put my finger on anything specific. I use Google Drive to retreive and store my projects while using Cubase. I was able to generate a .dmp file while Cubase froze, but it’s a 71 Mb file and too large to upload here.

Same here!

After Falcon 2026 update Cubase became unresponsive. Same on Cubase 14, Cubase 13, Cubase 12 and Ableton 12. (Surprisingly, Reason 12 remained stable.) There is probably some error in Falcon 2026.

I mean I “rendered in place” and the right clicked and disabled the track so that Cubase unloaded it. Falcon is fine while the project is open.

I only had one Falcon track in that project - if you have a lot of them it’s probably not a convenient solution. :frowning:

btw - I put a ticket in with UVI and they send a link to the old Falcon version, you can probably do the same if needed.

Hi Martin,

I created two dump files with ProdDump since cubase doesn’t provide one - I’ll PM you with the link.

It looks like Falcon is having issues unloading something.

thanks Alex

I submitted a support ticket to UVI about this and when they got back to me they referred to the latest update 2026.0.1. That fixed it.

Hello to the whole community, I am in the same situation as you with Cubase 14.0.40 & “Falcon 2026” since the last update. Until then, my PC was a real US Air Force private JET, but since then, Cubase uses up to 70% of my machine whereas it rarely exceeded 20% before. My processor is an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-core with 64GB of RAM. I have, of course, carried out the maintenance update for Falcon 2026, but despite that, every time I open Cubase it remains problematic, projects load slowly, around 2 minutes to load.

Since then, every time I open Cubase, I get the safe mode window!! It’s terrible… and it tells me: ‘the application has stopped due to an error while executing the following file: Freeze.’ Every time, I click the button to send the log files (dmp) to Steinberg (I think they must be fed up  ) I don’t lose hope, but it’s terribly frustrating!! Especially when everything is working fine and suddenly…

I apologize if the translation is not good, I am using Google Translate which should be correct. I wish you a beautiful day and beautiful music.

UVI are very responsive so let them know. The new update had the Sampling: Grains content missing and I contacted them and they sorted it quick.
