Fantastic MXML experience into Dorico!

Wow…I’m reviving a large piece I composed for Brass Band 20 years ago. It was all composed and scored back in Sibelius 6.

The MXML export from Sibelius (Ultimate 2024.3) and subsequent import into Dorico 6 was flawless!

As in…flawless. Everything is there, and after importing the Dorico library settings I’ve used and saved from a recent concert band project, the score looks fantastic already.

Sure, I’ll have to do a touch of re-formatting to the various Parts and the Conductor Score, but that will be painless.

I know that others have complaints or some problems with MXML, but I just had to report on this wonderful experience of MXML.

Maybe the Sibelius MXML export functions have improved over the last few years and the MXML importing capabilities have also improved in Dorico over the last few years. Back in Dorico 3 and 4 I imported a lot of smaller scores and pieces from Sibelius to Dorico, and the results weren’t that much fun to clean up.

But now it’s a dream! (…just a little report from the ‘trenches’…)
