- Group Folders - Provide the ability to create a folder that acts as a group channel.
For the arrangement view, it may be as simple as class GroupFolder : public Folder, public Group. In the mixer view, you should be able to expand or contract the view so the channels are visible when expanded and only the group is visible when contracted. This doesn’t have to be the default behavior and should not remove any existing behavior.
I’ve seen a lot of objections to implementing this feature on this forum and for the life of me I can’t understand why. It wouldn’t take anything away. For old school mix only engineers, it’s kind of like doing fly ins when you run out of tracks.
Implementation is probably around 90+% UI coding.
You don’t have to use it, but it’s there if you want to.
In practice, group folders are a good way to hide complexity when it’s not needed. - Stem Separation - It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s a very useful tool for a lot of musicians. Challenge: Do it better than Ableton.
Stem separation is already a feature in Cubase Pro 15, so there is no need to request it.
Folder and groups have been requested already. It is much better to support an existing request topic than creating a new one. Use one of your votes to show your support.
