Feature request – Automatically send MIDI values of faders on song load

Hi everyone, and thanks for the great work you’re doing with VST Live!

It would be very useful if VST Live could automatically send the current state of the mixer faders (volume, pan, etc.) via MIDI when a song is loaded.
This would allow instant synchronization with an external controller (like TouchOSC) when switching songs, preventing any mismatch between the software and the control interface

You can now set output in “Actions and Shortcuts”, get the latest version here. This can be set in a MIDI or automation track, then when you activate (select) a Song, those values should be sent.

:united_kingdom: Thanks for the reply!

Yes, using a MIDI or automation track to simulate sending fader states does work as described. Thank you for the explanation!

However, what I meant was a bit different: I was referring to the possibility for VST Live to automatically send the actual current state of the mixer faders when a song is loaded, without having to manually define it in a track.
Basically, a kind of “real-time snapshot” of the mixer being sent via MIDI when the song loads.

This would be very helpful to keep external controllers (like TouchOSC) in sync with VST Live’s internal mixer, especially in live performance scenarios.

Thanks again for your attention and support! :folded_hands:

Right, plus mixer snapshots (and more) are in the making

We have added a new feature to the Parts menu:

iOv11z3raE7VzhGi

This stores Volume, pan, mute, and solo for each mixer channel when a Part is de-selected, and restores it when selected. It will also cause the according action values to be activated, which will send MIDI if programmed (as per your request).

It’s a great feature, because it also allows you to have different global channel settings per Part; so Groups, OUT channels, and Global Layers and Stacks can have their individual settings for each Part.

Thank you so much for the new feature, I can’t wait to test it. You are amazing.

"I’m testing version 2.2.31.353, and the new feature still hasn’t appeared. Will it be implemented in an upcoming version? Thanks

v2.2.32 is expected in evening hours (v.2.2.31 is the last friday’s version)

Hi @musicullum , sorry if it is obvious. This function will work as some kind of “PART dependent quick automation / mixer snapshot & recall”, right?

It saves the actual mixer state (volume, pan, mute, and solo) when exiting a Part, and loads that state (provided it has ever been saved) when entering a Part.
It also sends those values to actions if programmed. “Automation” is not quite that, but snapshot yes, for said parameters.

Now it’s perfect, thank you!!!

Now VST Live remembers all the settings for each part and sends all the correct values to TouchOSC wirelessly, both when moving the VST Live mixer controls and when moving them from the iPad. It was everything I wanted. Thanks again
