I prefer that almost all cues have their stems up with rests below. Only in rare cases would I reverse that. At this point, I have been filtering the cues and using the direction control in the Properties panel for each part. A general option would be helpful.
This was the system of Arnold Arnstein, who felt that the result is more predictable and helps comprehension, especially in high-pressure rehearsal situations.
